3. Parents Code of Conduct


CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS

It is a condition of membership that SMCC Members are required to abide by the provisions of this code of conduct and any further updates from time to time.

Your conduct is a reflection, not only of yourself, but also of the club. Conduct which damages the reputation of the club will not be tolerated. Breaches of this code may result in disciplinary action being taken.

This code applies to Parents and Guardians of Junior Players and anyone attending club events in a similar capacity

Parents and Guardians are expected to:

• Ensure that your child is familiar with the Junior Player Code of Conduct.
• Treat others as you would expect to be treated yourself.
• Respect fellow members, staff, officials, opposing players and spectators.
• Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
• Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
• Help your child to recognize good performance, not just good results.
• Set a good example by recognizing fair play and applauding good performance for all.
• Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
• Publicly accept the decisions of match officials.
• Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy the sport.
• Use correct and proper language at all times. Discriminatory language will not be tolerated.
• Encourage your child to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
• Ensure your child arrives at and is collected from matches and coaching sessions at the designated times. Inform the coach / manager at the first opportunity should an issue arise.
• Refrain from engaging with coaches whilst they are supervising activities. Coaches will be happy to provide feedback after a session is complete.
• Support the coach and players during matches. Never attempt to coach or move a fielder during play.
• Be gracious in victory and accept defeat with dignity.
• Under no circumstances should any adult enter changing facilities, without the explicit permission of the supervising coach.
• Refrain from taking photography and video during activities without the explicit permission of the supervising coach.
• Raise any safeguarding concerns in respect of any participant, with the club safeguarding officer.
• Club officials reserve the right to speak to and where necessary take appropriate action if parents or guardians do not comply.
