And the sun has finally returned after what has felt like a life time of dreich days and frosty mornings. Soon it will shorts to work, sunglasses on and playing rugby in your bare feet weather!
This week I have been finalising off a number of events the club is going to be running over the next few weeks.
First, this coming Friday there will be a post prelim 7-aside tournament for S4-6 players. The last time we saw this tournament I was playing in it. Great chance for our club boys to have a week-day run out with not just club players but school mates too. Plus, it’s a good warm up for the sevens season which is only around the corner. I’d like to say a quick thanks to any school staff that are involved in this, it’s the first day of the long weekend and I know many would like to get away early and make the most of the holidays but school rugby wouldn’t exist without them.
Second, we are running our first “February long weekend of rugby”. I am sure you have heard about this by now but, we are running two, two day camps in Dingwall and Tain for pupils in p5-7 & s1-3. As a club, we cover an enormous area and we know many of our players travel a fair distance to play for Ross. If these sessions are a success, we would love to know where you would like to see these being help in the future? You know how to get in touch with us…
Third, in the process of finalising everything for our Easter camp. I know this is seven weeks away but, we are looking to make this our biggest camp to date! Opening it up to more age groups, held over more days and more events/activities on offer. Watch this space and keep checking the club Facebook and website for more details.
Fourth, BBC Alba have confirmed to come to the club on the 4th March to do full days filming of all age groups training, a couple interviews with our trusty coaches, always busy committee and even busier volunteers.
It’s going to be a busy old day with all p1-7, under 14s,16s,18s, girls under 15s,18s training and a senior fixture against Shetland.
Last but not least, our first XV have a home game against Ellon on Saturday, the team will be looking for a bit of redemption after a below par performance down there a couple of weeks along. Come along and support your local team, really does make a difference to the guys on the pitch having folk on the side line.
