Peterborough Lions have been busy on the recruitment front during the summer and will be showing off their new signings in a big game at the weekend.
Bury St Edmunds will be the visitors to Bretton Park on Saturday for a pre-season friendly that promises to be a quality encounter.
“Bury St Edmunds are a big club with big ideas and they are prepared to invest heavily in success,” said Lions chairman Andy Moore.
“They are staying in Peterborough overnight before the game and will have a big following. The rugby should be worth watching between two class sides and we’ll have the barbecue on and plenty of real ale. So it’s worth getting down to Bretton Park on Saturday at 3pm.”
The Lions will be operating at their highest ever level this season - they’ll be playing alongside arch city rivals Borough in Midlands Division One East (South) following promotion - and they’ve signed a number of talented players.
They include prop Tom Laws, a former England Under 18 Schools player from Old Albanians; Wisbech utility back Mark Laws; and Stamford duo Oli Storey (hooker) and Laurent Ross (scrum-half).
The Lions open their league season on September 1 with a home fixture against Bedford Athletic.
