Shipston on Stour CC Awards Dinner 2006
The club dinner was the usual mixture of fine food, fine wine, average banter and shiny trophies. The club would like to thank our hosts at the Cherington Arms for their part in an excellent night and all those who attended the final function of the year to give the season a good send off.
A brief timeline :
7pm - guests begin arriving, to be greeted at the door by "Knuckles" Murphy, threatening kneecaps unless cash is forthcoming.
7.30pm - chairmen and skippers nervously practising speeches and organising votes for awards. All others imbibing happily.
8.15pm - pints down, grub up. What a meal! Superb food, wonderful company, plentiful drinks.
10pm - a fine feast finishes. Thanks to Gary's absence, there was enough to go around. Now the speeches, huzzah!
11.30pm - speeches done (don't give up the day job boys), trophies handed out, remarkably little heckling.
12am - still plenty around, partaking of Cherington's finest ales
12.30am - the hardened remaining few move on to the tequila. Big mistake.
1am - Smeke in a random hat is gently removed from behind the bar by landlady Hilary.
1.15am - random hat finds its way onto Harpo's head, makes him look "more German" apparently.
1.45am - Hilary breathes a sigh of relief as we all clear off back to Shipston. Coxy on foot.
