1s lose narrowly but 2s win

The 1st XI narrowly missed out on a win on a very cold 1st game of the season. Being made to have a bat on a tough wicket, we could only manage to get 82 on the board including 5 ducks in our innings. Liam Webb (32), Steve Rigby (22) and Myles Robinson (11*) the only batters reaching double figures. Hunslet got off to a very slow start knowing they had plenty of time to get the 83 required runs to own, before new opening bowler Jamie hopper set to work getting 3 quick wickets. Both Jamie (15-7-27-4) and Kieron (15-2-31-2) bowled there 15 overs with Myles Robinson also providing a good spell (7-3-16-3). However, we unfortunately couldn't quite get the last wicket needed to get the win. Still a very encouraging bowling display from our bowlers, especially with Danny Eden due back playing in 2 weeks time. The 2nd XI did manage to get a win at a very cold and blustery Lock Lane. Captain Brad Barber won the toss and chose to bowl first. A very tight opening spell from Louis Holt (5-1-12-0) and returning Ryan Grinsill (8-3-14-1) got us off to a good start. Grinsill made the breakthrough before the rain came and we had to get the covers on for 20 minutes before restarting the play. Elliott Carter (13.1-1-32-5) and Daz Sharp (9-0-34-1) took over the bowling duties, Daz unlucky to only get the 1 wicket with some dubious umpiring decisions not going his way, but Elliott made sure as he started his day and season off nicely with 5 wickets. Jaymes Hollingworth (8-3-17-3) also started where he left off last season. Brighouse made 121. Again some dubious decisions from the umpire didn't go in our favor but we knocked off the 121 required losing 7 wickets in the process. Elliott Carter was the star again with 53*, the 3 others to get into double figures were Joe Ellam (17), Brad Barber (19) and Jordan Carter (12). A mixed day with not many runs scored between the teams but hopefully, the weather will help the pitches play a little better this week with the 1st XI hosting Hopton Mills and the 2nd traveling in the opposite direction. The 1st XI also have a Jack Hampshire Cup game away at Windhill and Daisy Hill on Sunday.

This weeks 100 Club winner was Chris Lethbridge with number 15. The jackpot was £48. Thank you for your continued support!
