There’s a chance of some silverware after Sunday’s semi-final win

Withy under 16s have booked themselves a place in the final of the Fisherman’s Cup after an impressive performance saw them beat a strong, determined Sidmouth side in the semi final at a sunny Raleigh Park.

Withy opened up the scoring a little over one minute into the game with a penalty from Lewis Tose. Sidmouth responded well with a try shortly after but further first half tries by Bobby Pond & Matt Burke gave Withies a 15-7 lead at the break.

Sidmouth put themselves back in the game with a try shortly after the restart on 40min but Withy continued to look strong in both attack and defence, adding another penalty from Tose and with Burke crossing the whitewash a second time, the boys ran out comfortable 23-12 winners.

A great game which was enjoyed by the large crowd that packed the park. The boys were certainly made to work hard for the win, but did so with style and perseverance. A great advert for both age grade and local grassroots sport.

It’s now onto the final for the Withy boys who will face Brixham at Astley Park after they edged Tiverton 24-20 in the other semi.
The game will be played on Sunday 24th April at 3pm.

Hopefully we can see you down in Brixham to cheer on the boys as they look to finish their season on a high with a trophy to their name!
