Charities

As a club, we recognise the importance of giving back to the local community and are proud to have been linked to the Alzheimer's Society for a number of years now. The Alzheimer’s Society provides support and information for people with dementia, as well as their families and carers. This is done through local branches, online and by telephone. In addition to providing this vital support network, the charity also uses money to help medical research into a cure, which is particularly important for the future as other medicines improve and we live longer and longer.

We run an annual mixed hockey 6s tournament with the ladies' club at the end of term 3 which boasts a lively, festival atmosphere that all can enjoy. Further to that, the annual talent show will be returning late in term one, location as yet unconfirmed. We are also participating in the Stratford Half Marathon and are considering expanding the amount at which we volunteer and introducing an attempt at the 3 Peaks Challenge, to summit the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales over the summer break. Further money is also raised through casual events such as pub quizzes and bucket collections.

On top of all the charitable events we run ourselves, we are also active participants in the events of others, from dancing for Sport Relief to volleyball, from netball to rugby sevens, we’re there.

Finally, every February we offer a drop in session for the local polytechnic to learn how to play hockey with our good selves and some local umpires.
