9,10,11 combine to save Union's blushes

Saturday saw Union prems take on United Brothers at 2nd Av Summerstrand .On a very underdone pitch United won the toss and chose to field first . This seemed a masterstroke as Union slumped from 19-1 to 96-9 inside 30 overs. Then a fantastic 10th wicket stand of 63 from tailenders Geoff Miles and Mikhail Lindoor saw Union post a respectable yet still small total of 159 all out , as Miles was the last man out for 24 off 55 balls he left Lindoor stranded on 34 from 72 balls. Once again the top and middle order had failed to produce the goods.
Union started well with the ball as Junior Dube picked up a wicket in his first over United Brothers 0-1.Next saw a steady stream of wickets as the United batsman seemed to fall like nine pins from 17-2 to 31 all out in a little over 15 overs.Junior Dube was the toast of the Union bowlers returning figures of 6-20 in just 8.1 overs.Dlyan Ryan picked up 2-10 in 6 overs and with one run out and one absent batsman it was all over quite painlessly .
Union ran out winners by 128 runs .
