Great day for young Villagers at East Kilbride

This Firework weekend the Uddingston Minis section headed to East Kilbride to see if they could deliver with an explosive bang.

P1-3 group were split up to mix in with the EK players.
Good tackling and movement were on show with Mark playing an absolute blinder. EK coaches commented on how well disciplined the Uddingston age group were.

On to the P4-5 group who had a great day against some strong opposition at EK. The boys played well as a team with the passing and offloading on point keeping the ball moving forward in attack scoring some phenomenal tries. While in defence they were superb getting better as the day went on as their confidence grew. With some strong tackles made and working as a team to push the opposition back with defensive line speed dominating the ground and making it hard for the East Kilbride team to move forward in attack.
A day that all players can be proud of and take the confidence gained today into the next fixture against Dalziel.

P6-P7 played well against a strong EK opposition. With large numbers of EK players it was decided to mix their usual teams into three mixed teams. In a training game format we played three games at P6 rules. The boys learned how to adapt their game, to reduce the effectiveness of a tougher home opposition. There was some good defensive kicking on show by Uddingston, which gained us valuable territory.
Key skills of passing, offloading and general game awareness being developed. There were a lot of positives to be drawn from one game win, and two losses, one of which was a narrow loss.

This fixture was spectacular to watch and left everyone oohing and aahing and left wanting more.

Next up in two weeks (19 Nov) Dalziel RFC wait in the wings.
