UBHRFC beat UBRFC in pre-season

This season will see the UBH play more challenging opposition as we have left the Merit league and look to organise fixtures with more university-based teams.

On Saturday, Old King Cole took to the field for the first time in 13/14 against the University of Bristol 2/3 team. It was a good chance for both teams to put into practise what they'd been working on in pre-season.

UBHRFC overcame an energetic and diligent Uni team 29 - 14 in four 20 minute quarters. A large number of boys contributed to the performance and it was a great way to start the season in terms of game pace and physicality. It also allowed us to look at the areas of our game we need to work on in the build up to the all-important NAMS group stages.

In addition, we learned that I have a sublime and delicate right boot. Who knew?

A brilliant start to the season - well done to those who played. The precedent has been set.
