It's arguably the 1st XV's toughest tie over the last month as they travel to a strong Wirral 2nd team.

Wirral are currently the Miller Homes League's 'Team of the Year' after turning their season round. They lost 8 out of their first 9 games but then went on to win 8 out of their following 9 games (including a 24-34 win at Thornton) which saw them rise out of the relegation zones into 7th place in Division 2.

Surprisingly, they lost at Warrington 2nds last week, although it was only by a point in a 24-23 defeat. This result must have frustrated them and they are bound to have a strong outfit out on Saturday.

If Thornton Cleveleys 1st team win their games in hand they can climb to safety themselves, and who better to spark a comeback against than the 'Houdinis' Wirral themselves.

The match will Kick off in Wirral at 3:00pm.
