Former player Dick Hawkes, who played for St Ouen in the mid 1980s gets in touch to share some memories and old press cuttings

Recently, Dick Hawkes, who played for the Ouennies back in 1986 contacted us having come across our website.

Dick, who now lives in Knockholt near Sevenoaks in Kent worked as an Estate Agent in Jersey for Hamptons and had several seasons with the Ouennies capped with a top score of 90 against the Yorkies at FB Fields. He also recalls playing for a JICC team captained by Ward Jenner, in which he scored 50.

Along with sharing some memories, Dick has also sent some JEP cuttings from the summer of 1986 - these can be seen here. I'm sure you will all see some familiar names including our own Dave Clark (father of 1st team bowler, Toby) along with other long standing legends of Jersey cricket.

COVID has prevented Dick from visiting Jersey recently, but he is keen to return and watch some cricket in the future.

Dick is keen to hear from anyone who he played with or against to reminisce over a virtual beer! Dick can be contacted at d.hawkes@outlook.com
