HAYDOCK 0-1 TOWN | TUES 16 APRIL

First off was the rescheduled away visit to Haydock. After losing at home to Haydock only days earlier, Town needed to pick themselves up for a second league match against their cross town rivals.

A cold wet Tuesday evening, a difficult playing surface and a physical Haydock team were the challenge. To Town’s credit they started lively as they attempted to play football on a damp grass pitch that had seen plenty of rain. Haydock proved difficult to breakdown and would see their own chances either hit the woodwork or saved by Lewis Jenkinson, making his Town debut in goal.

However the 50 or so Town fans that braved the elements were rewarded for their loyalty on the 39 minute as talisman Liam Diggle put the Blues ahead.

A goalless second half would eventually see Town win and make amends for the defeat only three days earlier. Player of the Match would go to Scott Williams who worked tirelessly from midfield. Then it was onto Saturday for yet another rescheduled fixture, this time down in Sale against Mersey Valley FC.
