Since 2009 Salford Red Devils Foundation has been working at developing links within the Borough of Trafford. There has been historically been little Rugby League presence in the area. As part of the commitment to see rugby league in Trafford grow, SRDF have established the Trafford Rugby League Development Group with local partners and stakeholders.

One of the hub areas to development was based around Blessed Thomas Halford High School in Altrincham. In 2011 South Trafford Raiders was originally founded and was based at BTH.

In 2013 the club fielded an U13 side who played in NW Counties Division 2.

With the assistance of SRDF 2014 has seen the club re-launched with aims to expand the opportunities of Rugby League in Trafford. An U14 side is currently playing in NW Counties Division 2. In addition an U12 and U13 development squad has been established.

Raiders are keen to recruit players and coaches to assist with this development.
