Lucy Beal, who signed for the Solent Junior Devils NIHL2 team for the 2020/21 season, is off to the USA to continue her hockey journey.

Despite being only 18 years old, Lucy who is the younger sister of ex-Devil Chris ‘Beano’ Beal, has an impressive level of experience. She has iced for GB U18s in 20 World Championship games and the GB Women in 5 world championship games, picking up a silver and bronze medal in the process. Her proudest moment was when she was selected as GB’s most valuable player in the 2020 U18s World Championship.

In June this year Lucy was approached by Hoosac School in New York State, USA to join the school and play in their Owls ice hockey team.

Lucy started playing at the age of 4 and went through the conference and England programmes before being selected for GB U18s in 2017. Lucy has also been a member of the multiple championship-winning Queen Bees and played NIHL2 at Bracknell before the rink closed.

Speaking about her move to the USA Lucy said “I have always dreamt of playing abroad and was thrilled when I was approached to play at Hoosac School. I would like to thank my coaches that have got me to this stage and am really excited about the new challenges ahead. Hopefully, I can help raise awareness of Great Britain in the hockey world and show that with work and determination dreams really can come true”
