The SCC Tankards almost caused the upset of the round as they led Bucks 1s 21 - 19 at halftime in their game in the National League against last season's losing finalists. Some great play by the Tankards saw them score almost from kick off, but it was some critical penalities and lapses in defence which saw the Bucks first team sneak away with a 26 -33 win over the Tankards who certainly signed their intent this season in the top league.

Earlier in the day, Bryan "Lima" Lim coaxed out a close win for the SCC Lions in his coaching debut on the Padang. It was a great performance of experience and youth, and with a lot to look forward to in the new season.

The 1st XV powered their way to a 69-0 win over the Bucks 2s, with Convenor Henry Winter seemingly doing it all in steering the ship from the pack.

With 2 weeks gone the 1st XV is leading the pack on points difference as the SCC Rugby section once again looks to a clean sweep against Wanderers this weekend at Dempsey
