Two more NCL points earned with late try flurry

Siddal weren't at their best at Chevinedge as they left it late to clinch another vital win against a quality Wath Brow team.

The Cumbrians declared their intent from the very start of the game when winger Morgan McCourt touched down after just two minutes and the reliable boot of Cole Walker-Taylor landed the conversion for a 0-6 lead for the visitors.

Siddal's Oliver Lewis replied for the home side on 5 minutes to reduce Wath Brow's lead to 4-6. There were no further tries for the remainder of the first half, but Walker-Taylor was successful with two penalties to leave the half time scores 4-10.

Siddal conceded another penalty early in the second half, which was duly punished by Walker-Taylor to stretch the visitors' lead to 4-12.

On 53 minutes, Christian Ackroyd hit back for Siddal with a try that was improved by Lewis Hosty for a 10-12 scoreline.

Wath Brow replied on 56 minutes when a try from loose forward Charlie Tomlinson which was converted by Walker-Taylor, once again put the Cumbrians two scores in front at 10-18.

Siddal then produced a grandstand finish with three tries in the final 15 minutes. Liam Whitton's try on 66 minutes brought Siddal back into the game at 14-18. With ten minutes left on the clock, Oliver Lewis scored his second try to bring the scores level at 18-18 before Hosty's conversion put Siddal ahead for the first time at 20-18.

With four minutes left to play skipper Canaan Smithies touched down and Hosty's conversion put enough daylight between the two teams at 26-18 to allow Siddal to see the game out.
