Shevington Sharks Open age team continue to impress with a convincing win at local rivals Hindley

The Sharks travelled to local rivals Hindley ARLFC for an evening game on Thursday 9th April. From the kick off it was evident that the players were up for the game and continued to show their excellent collective team spirit as drive after drive gained continued momentum toward the opponents try line. After 10 minutes prop forward Phil Mallilieu again showed his power and determination go cross the Hindley line close to the posts, the try goaled by the excellent Johnny Dunn, who had a great night both at hooker and later at Scrum half covering for the injured Deane Meadows. Wave after wave of great attacking play, coupled with awesome defensive sets again took the sharks up close to their opponents try line, the ball finally going to Chris Bates who was superb on the night having one hell of a game to score close to the sticks, again goaled by Johnny Dunn. Another excellent move late in the half saw the ball pass through several hands, before Captain Danny Owens made a superb drive toward the line before slipping a great pass out to the waiting Sharks players, Adam Robinson and Andrew Beaney were about to receive the ball, until Chris Dunn appeared from nowhere to take the pass and touch down in the corner. Half time score 16 nil.
Hindley did pull a try back midway through the 2nd half, but this did not stop the Sharks momentum nor drive to add to their points total, further tries from Johnny Dunn and the incredibly consistent Mike Norton, who amazingly never stops for the whole 80 minutes, both goaled by Johnny Dunn saw the sharks finish 28 - 4 winners.
It is incredibly difficult to single any player out as the team ethic currently on show is both pleasing on the eye and the field. All 17 players deserve a huge pat on the back. The next game is on Saturday 18th April back at Shark Park against Clockface in the Cup.
