Sharks Tours

Shaw Cross Sharks made history by taking part in the first BARLA tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1977.

In recent years, Shaw Cross have spread the word even wider by visiting developing countries for rugby league such as South Africa in 1999, 2001 and 2003 and the groundbreaking trip to Serbia & Montenegro in 2005.

Pictured is the final game from the 2003 tour to Cape Town, South Africa. On the front row are two South African players who eventually came over to England and played for Shaw Cross, Bradley Green and Marius Schwarts.

Other trips including Australia add to the fine history of the Shaw Cross club internationally. In 2007 the club visited the Czech Republic.

In 2007 Sharks players Matthew Myers and Danny Smith along with Mick Turner went back to South Africa with BARLA who spread the word with some local youngsters during the tour of June 2007.

Many other Sharks players have toured with BARLA to places like Dubai, Ukraine and more recently Jamaica. Adam Masson made the trip along with Mick Turner.

Shaw Cross are planning to go back on tour to Cape Town in the near future nearly ten years since our last visit.

Long may the hard work, commitment and most important of all, the friendship continue between the Sharks and these countries.
