Scole United Fc 0 v 1 Waveney Fc

Looking to bounce back from their harsh defeat to higher league Harleston, Scole welcomed a resurgent Waveney to Ransome for what promised as always against this opposition to be a tough game.
Striker Ash Rankin was back in place of young Max Chamberlain and Marc Pearce replaced unavailable Luke Martin at the back in an otherwise unchanged starting 11. Ash Baxter had to be satisfied with a place on the bench after Illness and another 16 yr old Harvey Foreman was called up for his first taste of Senior Football.
Scole as usual started quickly with Robbie Turner releasing Kieran Manning after just 3 minutes with the striker's ferocious shot cannoning back off the crossbar. The same pair combined again 10 minutes later with former Diss Town stopper James Bergin out quickly to charge down Manning's shot. Scole dominated play but just couldn't put the ball into the East Coast side's net. Turner had a good effort tipped over the bar and Rankin hit his shot over the bar from a corner.
So goalless at Half-time, Scole changed tactics by bringing Baxter on for Manning and pushing the dangerous Turner further forward but it was Waveney who appeared more at ease with the game. They were rewarded when JJ Ebury finished with a curling shot into the corner of the home goal on the hour. Effectively the game was done and dusted with a very resilient Waveney side repelling all Scole efforts. Ash Baxter called Bergin into action with a sweetly struck free kick but the keeper made an acrobatic save to somehow keep the ball out. Young Foreman came on for his debut and did well but Scole couldn't break through a stubborn Waveney set up perfectly for the smash and grab by former Tangerines Boss Micheal King.
A frustrating day for Scole but Man of the Match was once again Robbie Turner who showed glimpses of brilliance in an otherwise drab affair. A mention for the hardworking Rankin as well who made life uncomfortable for the Waveney defence at times.
Next Week Scole are away against promoted high flyers Yelverton looking to finish the Year off with 3 points.
