Latest News from Ruskin

To all Members, Supporters and Friends

In these challenging times, we are reaching out to all our members, supporters and sponsors and to give an update on Ruskin Park RFC and what we are doing to maintain the spirit and the community involvement of the club currently.
We have been liaising with St Helens Council, Lancashire RFU and England Rugby to ensure that we have all the latest information regarding safely and responsibly returning to some form of rugby. At present, a full return to rugby looks some way off.
In preparation for whatever the coming season may look like, we are already formulating a blueprint to enable us to field Senior and Junior teams in their respective competitions.
Following the clubs first “virtual” AGM, we have formed a new Management Committee, with many years of professional and rugby experience, to help steer the club’s future direction, this will be chaired by Barry Loftus. We have re-appointed Chris Lyon as head coach for the coming season and Matthew Griffiths will again lead the Senior Squad on the field.
With facilities secured with the council, we have joined the Lancashire RFU Leagues for the coming season and will be playing in the 1st Division against some of our old rivals from across Lancashire and Merseyside.
We have contingency plans in place for a late start to the season, with a worse-case scenario to start the season in January. With this in mind, we have decided to scrap all membership fees for the coming season, allowing players from across the rugby community to have a game of rugby at little expense.
As further relaxation of Government regulations is announced we will react accordingly in terms of training and exercise opportunities, as well as social and community events to aid the return to a normal club environment.
We hope we can count on your continued support as we emerge from what has been a tremendously difficult time for the country and the local community.
Finally, we would like to thank all the key workers both directly associated with Ruskin Park and those from the wider community who have done such an amazing job of caring for those in need and ensuring that essential services have been able to continue throughout the recent months.
We hope to see you all down at Ruskin Drive soon.
Warm Regards
The Ruskin Park Management Committee
