3-4 Lost

Ripon entertained Alwoodley on Saturday in the County Challenge Cup.
Ripon started poorly and were 3 down with 15 minutes, some really sloppy play for all the goals. Three down and Ripon were up against it, however Ripon pulled a goal back inside 30 mins, Haswell challenging at the front post and the ball was directed past the Alwoodley keeper of one of his own players. 1-3
Ripon started to play a bit of football and got there 2nd through Haswell, Puttock and Haswell challenging with their keeper and Haswell was there to finish, Puttock was in a heap after a knock to the head. 2-3
No further chances created for Ripon in the 1st half, Alwoodley did smash the bar with a ferocious shot just before half time.
HT
Micky got the hairdryer out at half time...our performance was not good enough, we can’t concede soft goals like that and expect to compete in games...however with the two goals we’d scored we were somehow back in the game.
Second half was underway and Ripon started the brighter team but conceded a 4th midway through the 2nd half. 2-4
Ripon continued to fight and got a lifeline as Fox got Ripon’s 3rd with 10 minutes to go, a header from close range. 3-4.
Alwoodley now down to 10 men after two silly bookings, however Alwoodley were the victors and progress to the next round.
Ripon need to dust themselves off and move onto a really tough game next week in the league, away to Rawdon Old Boys.
Mention for Jake Carter-Daggett who returned to the squad this week, MOTM performance at right full back.
