After a disappointing day on Saturday the OV 2s bounced back with a win to start their T20 campaign

It wasn't a great performance with bat or ball but we fielded superbly and at the end day we got over the line which is what matters.
- Elliot Powell - 2nd XI T20 Captain

A return to the 1st XI crime-scene of Saturday awaited the 2nd XI on Sunday as they took to the field for the first time this season in a T20 fixture vs last years winners Walkovers. Having won the toss and decided to bowl, OVs got off to a flier when the ever-green Chris Searson took two wickets in two balls in his second over. The Walkovers recovery charge was led by Cox who whacked his way to a potentially vital 38 but he eventually fell to Charlie Breese, who finished with figures of 4 overs; 3-21, thanks to a juggled catch by Rob Duckett at long-off. The champions scraped their way to 129-8, a total which seemed to be around 10 runs short of the par score that skipper Elliot Powell had suggested before the innings.

Indeed it would prove to be the case. Jamie Watling, who kept tidily, opened the batting with James Duckett and the pair rarely looked troubled as they calmly picked off 1s and 2s to take the OVs to 70-0 off 12. When Daffy was trapped LBW by Robin Carnegie a mini-panic ensued as brother Rob departed just 7 balls later to off-spinner Stephen Tyler. Luckily for the OVs Ed Giles strode purposefully to the crease and proceeded to agricultural smash OVs towards their target. Giles is a batsman who lives and dies by his aggressive sword however his dismissal for 25 need not have worried. Debutant Oli Dodds, accompanied by Jack Ingle after Jamie Watling departed for a hard earned 44, batted nicely, comfortably dispatching every delivery on his legs as OVs surpassed their target with 8 balls and 5 wickets remaining. It was a fantastic win against strong opposition and my thanks goes to those lads that did the double header for us this weekend due to such a ridiculously long
list of unavailability!

We go again next week vs the Royals at FB Fields (3pm)

Olim Hoc!
