Second half goals secure win

Second half goals from Jack Biddescombe and Josh Howe were enough to ensure that the 'miners' picked up all three points in a testing home fixture against an 'inform' Lydeard side.
The first half was a fairly even affair and both sides had chances go in front but the woodwork twice denied Radstock with Rico Sobers heading against the bar and Jack Metcalf hitting the post with a twenty yard drive. Mark Cornish should have done better for the visitors but was caught in two minds when through on goal and his indecision was enough for a home defender to get a tackle in and Mark Clunie was guilty of blazing the ball over the bar a few minutes latter when he had time to place his shot.
The opening goal came five minutes into the second period when Rico Sobers picked up the ball on the right wing before slipping a pass to James Rustell who in turn passed the ball into Jack Biddescombes path for him to steer the ball past Nathan Whatley in the visiting goal.
Both sides had opportunities after the goal but neither keeper was particularly over worked with the best opportunity falling to Lydeard's Charlie Wilson but his header was straight at Scrivens in the home goal. With ten minutes remaining the visitors gave away a needless free kick on the edge of their box and from the resulting cross Josh Howe bundles the ball home from a couple of yards.
An entertaining game on a strength sapping surface and three excellent points for the home side.
