1. About the Piranhas

Welcome to Peebles Piranhas, the Minis Section of Peebles Rugby Football Club.

In conjunction with other Borders’ clubs, we introduce children of primary school age to rugby union through structured coaching sessions, player development programmes and tournaments throughout the season. We offer Mini, Tag, Touch and New Image Rugby, all in accordance with guidelines set out by the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU).

Coaching sessions take place every Sunday, either at Peebles High School or Hay Lodge Park, starting at 10.00 and finishing at 11.15. We also take part in tournaments with other Borders’ clubs: please check the fixture list and website for more details.

As parents, carers and coaches, we have a collective responsibility to manage the welfare of the children who play rugby and to ensure that the game maintains its core principle of fair play. In support of these principles we have this year established player, coach and parent charters for those involved in the Piranhas rugby. Download the Charters here.

Peebles Piranhas is an organisation that’s run exclusively by volunteers, without whose support we would not be able to introduce the great experience of sport in general and rugby in particular into children’s lives. We’ll always welcome volunteers – there’s a host of things to be done so no matter what skills or experience you have we can find a role for you. So please, come along, volunteer and enjoy it with us!

And finally, please spread the word. We are continuing to develop the minis and welcome new players from P1 to P7. If your child/children is/are enjoying the experience, please let their friends know. We look forward to another successful season of continued player development and welcoming you to tournaments in support of some great mini rugby!
