About the team

Welcome to Northwich RUFC U11s. Coach Sam Naylor

We encourage our players to be the best that they can be and we place enjoyment at the heart of what we do.

All new players always made extremely welcome.

We meet on Sunday mornings at 10:15 and sessions finish at 11:45

To be eligible for U11s during the 2020-21 season, your son or daughter must be aged 10 years on 1st September 2020 (i.e. in school Year 6)

At this age group we play we play full contact rugby, with player safety absolutely our top priority. As a result mouth guards are mandatory. Please ask if you need some advice about mouth guards.

Please bring a drink and a snack for your child so they can keep their energy levels up!

These are the core skills of Rugby: PASSING, CATCHING, TACKLING, RUNNING and EVASION. We develop these through games rather than drills.

Our players have the freedom to play without the fear of making mistakes, to express themselves, use their imagination and to be creative (in other words, be themselves).

We have a squad of mixed ability and stature, they all have their own strengths and and areas to work on. The players naturally grow and develop at different rates and we look carefully at the needs of both the individual and the team in terms of their development.

We really encourage the kids to help each other out because learning from your peers is a great way to learn!

We ensure that they understand and follow Rugby's five core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Disciple and Sportsmanship.

We operate a rotation policy so all of our players are given equal game time.

We use both one-on-one coaching as well as small sided games.

Child Protection – We adhere t the RFU’s Safeguarding Guidelines. All our coaches are RFU qualified and hold enhanced DBS (criminal records) checks.

Concussion – any player that receives a knock to the head will be immediately removed from play and will not be allowed to return. We will assess the player and we will, if necessary, recommend that the player is taken for assessment by a medical professional.

We keep an eye on the weather because cold and wet children make unhappy rugby players! Please bring appropriate clothing for the conditions. Please be aware if it gets very cold and/or wet we may stop the session earlier than usual.
