About the team

Welcome to Northwich RUFC U8s. Coaches Ste Boonham and Giles Rigby

The season starts in September BUT you are never too late to join us, all you need is some boots and lots of enthusiasm and be in year 3 at junior school.
We train every Sunday mornings whatever the weather from 9:30am, September to the end of April. If there are any changes to the normal routine an e-mail will be sent out earlier that week were possible.

[b]Who are the coaches?

We're lucky to have some very generous parents who volunteer to coach our U8s. All the coaches are DBS checked and have Rugby Ready coaching certificates with a number being RFU qualified coaches. We'd love to have more volunteers join us - there's plenty to do from coaching, first aid, refereeing and team admin.

What will you need:

• Football boots
• Shorts or track suit trousers
• Shirt and warm up top eg: fleece/track suit top.
• In winter, please ensure your child has several layers of clothing plus a hat and gloves as a cold child is not a happy one.

If you require any kit please go to our Club shop inside the club house or visit our webpage. You can view items for sale, check the item/size is in stock and place an order.

Safety

As parents ourselves we treat the safety of your children as paramount when considering our itinerary. Tag rugby at this age level is non-contact in that we do not play to tackle or encourage aggression towards each other. But don't expect any clean shirts because children seem to love the mud!!

Building for the future

We consider it a great honour to be the people giving your children their first taste of rugby and aim to ensure the healthy behaviours our sport helps to develop serve your children well in the future and keep them coming back for years to come. We are all individuals, what excites one child may not interest another, we do realise that rugby is not ‘it’ for all. Parents are also encouraged to get involved even if it’s just holding equipment putting on tag belts and helping to put equipment away at the end of the session. There is also a kitchen facility in the clubhouse selling tea coffee and bacon or sausage sandwiches if you miss breakfast.

Interested in Sponsoring the Under 8s

Anyone interested in sponsoring please contact any of the coaches. The money goes to buy equipment such as balls, tag belts, tackle shields, training shirts, coaching tops, marker cones and poles. The list is endless there is always new equipment to buy or replace worn out equipment.

How can you find out more?

If you have any questions about our Under 8s rugby programme please don't hesitate to contact any member of our Coaching team (all coaches have been DBS checked by Northwich RUFC Child Protection Officer).

We look forward to seeing you down at Moss Farm over the coming years and who knows we may just have the next England Captain in our midst.
