U14's Travel to Brooklands on a cold foggy morning

What a great morning's lacrosse from the boys in green.

So, we arrived ready for an early face off only for the astro to be frozen. After alot of stomping around on the grass it was decided by the ref's we could go ahead. Thanks must go to Ali Dahesh, Dean and Chris Eastwood and the lads who helped persuade the refs all was good.

The lads could have stayed in the dressing rooms as Brooklands/Stockport did, which was very tempting as it was much warmer but what a great attitude, they were out warming up. If ever a psychological advantage paid dividends this was it. 3-0 up after Q1.

So to the game;

Mentions must go to all the lads who played really well. I'm not going to mention everyone, but particular spotlight must be put on Miles, best game for us yet. Some great saves and I still like the shout of "owww" followed by the little dance when it hits below the knee. Jake, ran like a trooper today and used his stick skills and size well. The 4 man defence were all extremely determined and remained focussed at all times. Aaron and Sam, the latter who pulled a hamstring so was only playing at half pace, but they both set the pace and helped control the game. For me, this was Aaron Eastwood's best game I've seen him play, keeping really calm and winning well more faces than he lost.

Q1 3-0. Goals from Alex 2, Aaron Eastwood. What was so pleasing was the passing. The second goal, great break by Aaron who found Alex in space to cut in and finish well. Other assist from Louis A who had an all round really effective selfless game.

Q2 4-1. In a quarter which we drew Aaron scored again for us.
It was this quarter where a cheeky drop of the stick by Ben hit the post

Q3. 7-4. A certain Aaron decided the blip of not scoring against these last time was not happening again and scored a hat-trick in this quarter alone. Assists from Aria after a great run and Jake.

Q4 11-5. We absolutely controlled the final quarter with some great consistent pressure resulting in a goal for Louis A. Another goal from him, plus another from Aaron would have easily been enough, but a nice cut and bump shot from Max resulted in a well deserved final goal.

So all round a brilliant effort in the fog, well what we could see anyway.

Final points;
The way the lads celebrated as a team at the end, but were always sporting. Brilliant to see as a parent.

A big thank you to those lads who couldn't make it today, it's a team game and even those who aren't there need to share in this. Training is what delivers these results.

Finally it was great to see Harrison Burkitt there today after a few weeks at Uni, but it still didn't stop him going to Timperley first. I despair!
