NY7s Volunteer Roles

New York Rugby Club's NY7s Tournament is the largest single-day 7s tournament in the country, and depends on the hard work of its members to get things done. Read below to understand how to help.

It's important that you select every role you're capable of doing, and we'll figure out what role(s) are the best fit.

Packet Stuffing
We have to stuff a bunch of packets with flyers and info for the upcoming teams, and draw some signs. This is a great task for those that are gone Friday-Saturday; you'll meet at a bar/office, and do some arts and crafts for about 2 hours on Monday/Tuesday evening.

Friday Field Setup
We have to line the fields and tape up goal posts on Friday. This is ~3 hours on Friday afternoon. You'll be walking around Randall's.

Saturday Field Setup
We have to install post pads and deliver some equipment early Saturday morning; this role is about 6:30-8 on Saturday. You'll be walking around Randall's.

Registration Tent
We have to check in the teams as they arrive and give them critical information. This is about ~ 3 hours early saturday, starting at ~7:15 and lasting until about noon. You'll sit at a table in the tents.

Parking Director
We need a few people to give parking instructions to passenger cars as they arrive near the fields and need to know where to park. This starts ~7:15, and lasts until about noon.

Score Tent
We need sharp individuals to receive scores from field captains, record the results, and figure out the resulting games. This is all day, and you'll be sitting at a table.

Runner
We have several generic assistant needs, where you have a leader you help with delivering goods, completing tasks, finding people, etc.. This is all day, and involves walking around Randall's.

Field Captain
(critical role) Fields captains stay at each field, prepare the teams and referees to keep the games on time, and report scores to the score tent. This is all-day, involves staying at a field and watching all the games, and is a critical role for the tournament.

Field Breakdown
As the games end, we need individuals to collect the post pads and goal posts and return them to the container. This is ~2 hours, and starts as the games end.
