Mr Jarmans Season Preview

We’re looking forward to the season. The club is in a strong shape and looking forward to the season ahead, on and off the pitch. This is reflective of the hard work and investments made over the last few years, which now gives a solid platform for the club to excel.

The aim of the club is to allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy their cricket, and to develop and excel at their highest level. This season we will be running the popular All Stars programme for young children to experience cricket for the first time, alongside our Academy programme for players up to the Under 13 age group which brought great success last season.

The first and second XI’s are in a strong shape for the season ahead. We have made some exciting signings in Dave Laird and Joe Monk, and also welcome back veteran spinner Paul Hawthorn to the club. We wish them every success.

The ground is improving every season. Our head groundsman, Jamie Smart, puts in a huge amount of effort to deliver the wicket and outfield in such a strong condition. It’s looking good ahead of the season opener on the 27th April, and barring another repeat of last years tough heat wave, we are set to have ideal conditions to play in.

Finally, I would like to thank all of our Sponsors, Vice Presidents and members who together make the continued success of the club possible. In particular I would like to thank Evabuild, Nidec and the Elephant & Castle for their support.
