The club has a young but proud history. The club was formed as a section of the Avon Tyres sports and social club by the Avon factory workers in 1978 and ever since has been a permanent fixture within the town. The club rapidly gained a reputation amongst the opposition as a club that constantly punched above its weight (sometime quiet literally).

In 1991 the Mini's section was formed giving the club 20 years of home grown tallent. The Mini's section has given the oppertunaty for young players excel and many to go on to play at a high level and even represent their country.
