Lydney reached their second Cup Final of the season last night when they beat Royal Wootton Bassett 3-2 down The Rec in the Bluefin League Cup semi final. Having already secured a place in the GFA Trophy Final against fellow league rivals Roman Glass on April 27th,(7.30pm) this acheivement caps a great season for Town after their latest league win against Shrivenham guaranteed another season at level 5.

A first half goal from Lewis Thompson gave Town the lead at the break and early second half strikes from Jaheim Allen and Jordi Sheen but us well in control.

Bassett failed to roll over and hit back with late goals from Bailey Gallagher and Alfie Presley but Lydney stood strong to see the game out.

The final will be played at Allpay Park, the home of Westfields FC on Monday May 1st (3.00pm) against newly crowned Hellenic League 1 Champions Pershore Town. The Worcestershire based side confirmed their title with an emphatic 8-0 win against Moreton Rangers on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 200. They still have 3 games to go and have currently only lost 3 league games.

We hope that the news will lift the spirits of club chairman Dean Voss who is currently laid up in hospital after a recent health scare. All at the club wish him well and hope that he is out in time to see at least one of the Cup Finals.
