History

Leicester Forest Rugby Football Club was formed in 1997 by the amalgamation of two well established Leicester Clubs, Old Bosworthians, which was formed from the old boys of Dixie Grammer School originally founded in 1955, and West Leicester R.F.C. which was founded in 1963, and was an amalgamation of Old Ricardians and the Highfields Medway Club which began playing in the 1920's.

Since 1997 the club has prospered both on and off the pitch. Leicester Forest regularly field four senior teams, a veterans team and a colts team. This is due to commitment from players, coaches and club members.
Our minis and junior sides have grown beyond belief, every Sunday during the season the pitches are a mass of blue jerseys having fun, keeping fit and learning about team work. We have also become the home of Forest Ladies a progressive girls side who show strength and depth and more guile than some of our male sides.

We have gained floodlights for our new pitch, making us a facility to hold county and evening games, making forest one of the premier clubs in Leicester.

Off the pitch you can be assured of a warm forest atmosphere. We have many social evenings from Children's pantomimes to Oompah bands. Even the bar staff provide entertainment which is free of charge, look out for the famous "Chunky", he is a wealth of information about Leicester and all its watering holes.

Forest is proud to support the local community providing facilities to schools rugby events. Our strong links remain with Leicester Tigers where we have provided players to development squads- some are now regular members of the first team, Ollie Smith and Sam Vesty.
