Leek CSOB won the Chris McMullen Memorial Match after a fantastic 1-0 victory against Leek Town.

Old Boys faced a very strong Leek Town team at Harrison Park in this years Chris McMullen Memorial Trophy.

Leek Town came flying out of the blocks and should have been in front after only 30 seconds when the forward raced through on goal but his lobbed effort went the wrong side of the post.

It was backs to the wall in the opening exchanges as Leek Town really put the Old Boys defence under pressure and they had several other half chances and should have been in front.

Old Boys started to work their way into the game after 20minutes with Mitch Shenton working hard in midfield and Eddie Ellis keeping the Leek Town defenders busy. Leek Town still had another opportunity before the break but the effort came back off the post.

The second half was a lot more even with both teams having opportunities and as the game wore on it was Leek Town getting more frustrated as they struggled to break down a stubborn Old Boys defence marshalled superbly by Drew Bennett.

Leek Town were offered a fantastic opportunity to go in front with only eight minutes remaining when the linesman flagged for a very soft penalty as Josh Hall put his arm across Tim Grice to see the ball out of play. Grice stepped up but his penalty struck the post and was cleared to safety.

As the clock ticked down, Leek CSOB talisman Jamie Pointon got his opportunity as he went past the defender and smashed his effort high into the net to give Old Boys the lead.

Leek CSOB saw the game out to claim a fantastic win and with it, the Chris McMullen Memorial Trophy.
