Following back to back wins over the Easter period, last Saturday at Walmer Road saw Kirkley & Pakefield FC play 4thplaced Thetford Town hoping to continue their run. It was the home team that had the first attempt at goal with Bailey Phipps firing in a good shot after just 4 minutes but away keeper Tom Smith saved well, on 26 minutes home team player Oliver Griffin was injured and had to be replaced by Jake Conway. The ‘Royals’ were doing much of the early defending and on 33 minutes Callum Olpin scored for the visitors with a fine volley from just inside the area, Alex Blowers in the home goal was in fine form to keep Thetford at bay. Early in the second half the ‘Royals’ a goal down were unlucky not to score after a goal bound shot was well saved and the rebound put on to the post. Thetford keeper Smith then saved a 20 yard dipping volley with his outstretched hand. Against the run of play a good inter passing movement saw Kieran Money put the ball over the advancing home keeper. The ‘Royals’ continued to press but to no avail and a final 2-0 defeat.
