KSHC 2s v Devonport Services 3 - Saturday 23rd March 2024

This week was the last game of the season, they played at home, against Devonport Services 3rd team. There was a lot of pressure on this match as these were the top two teams in the league, with a small points difference, the winner would be the winner of the League. A true gold medal game.

KSHC set the pace early on in the match, Islay Box made a great run down the line, in towards the goal, and pushed the ball effortlessly into the back of the net. Starting out with a quick lead-built confidence and the pressure stayed on. Laura Hamilton and Poppy Booth worked really hard on the wings. They both ran up and down the pitch. Back checking to help the defence, as well as effortlessly moving the ball down the pitch. Freya Pearce was confidence in the middle. She was always available as a passing option, and created great one twos with her fellow players. Poppy Booth scored the second goal of the match with her backhand hit that shot the ball up into the netting. Rosie Caunter was excellent, no one could get past her. She stopped anyone trying to get over the halfway line. Carina Rogers and Naomi Redmonds both had excellent positioning as forwards, and had a number of chances on goal from the back post. Going into the second half DS 3s really put up the pressure. They really put the pressure on our defenders. Nicky Sheppard stayed strong in the middle and marked their hard hitters out of the game. Mel Charnock used her speed go chase down every ball. During the multiple short corners in a row, Mel worked really hard and stopped almost every ball at the top of the circle. Sophie Lake was in goal this week and kept her composure. She stopped every ball going her way. JL Marlin stopped more than one goal on the line and made some excellent clearances. After KSHC got past the short corners, they took back control of the match. Freya Bradley created a lot of chances on the goal. She assisted in multiple goals. Both Islay and Poppy scored again during this half, with Freya's help. The game finished 5-0 for KSHC 2s. This means they finished Top of the League. Player of the Match is JL Marlin.
