FA Vase action is on the agenda for ‘The Foxes’ this Saturday as they welcome Thurlow Nunn side, Long Melford to Cricklefield Stadium.

Both sides are entering at the First hurdle of this season’s competition, the First Qualifying Round and the winners of this tie will have home comforts in the second qualifying round, with a tie against Eastern Counties Football League side Benfleet awaiting the victor.

Ilford head into this game after an indifferent start to the season, suffering two defeats, one in the FA Cup to Halstead Town and one in the league, a 4-0 opening day League defeat to Hashtag United. In their last game the foxes did pick up their first victory of the season, a 6-2 romping of local rivals Redbridge to really ‘kick – start’ their season with Juan Cardona netting a superb hat trick on their way to victory.

Long Melford have been more successful in the Cup competitions than the league so far this season, having beaten Kemptson Rovers and Northampton on Chennocks to earn themselves a home tie in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup against Isthmian Premier side Cheshunt. In the league, ‘The Villagers’ are winless in their first two matches of the season, a draw with Stanway Rovers and a narrow defeat to Norwich United.
