The season that never was

We probably and hopefully will never see another season like it, It started with great promise. Daz and his team making some great signings in the transfer market and confidence was high preparing for the new season, but as public safety was paramount, all football at Tier 2 and below was drastically affected. It was stop start with friendlies and then as we seemed to be moving forward with a great result against a quality Llandudno side in the League Cup, things came crashing back down. Covid figures were on the rise again and so football rightly took a back seat.

As a club we will regroup and move forward, looking forward to the new season with the same confidence and expectation that good things will happen, I spoke to Manager Darren Garmey recently and he had this to say "We are obviously disappointed with the decision not to grant us elite status, but it is a decision everyone now has to accept even if they do not understand it. I would like to think that the decision was dragged out so long as the governing bodies made every last attempt to get us playing right up until the point where it was not possible. Once the dust had settled I personally felt a sense of relief that we now have closure for everyone that has worked so hard to put us in the position to be ready to restart.

Our club as have many others have worked tirelessly to adapt to what is the new normal during these testing times and I would like to thank all of the committee and volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication. Also the players have been fantastic, always positive and working in hope of restarting. Many of them going out of their comfort zone to get themselves in such good condition they would have been ready to play at a drop of a hat.

Planning now switches to next season where we will hope to play without any restrictions and in front of supporters. I think I speak for everyone in local football when I say we will never take anything for granted again. Every minute, of every session, matchday and away day journey will be savoured like never before and this will no doubt make 2021/22 a special season for everyone.

I can only echo the words of Darren, we will be back even stronger next season, so please keep an eye on social media for updates in the coming weeks
