Hindley ARLFC...

Hindley ARLFC would like to congratulate ex Hindley player Tommy Makinson on his recent success. So far this year Tommy has earned a place in the 2018 Betfred Superleague Dream Team, His man of the match hat-trick performance in last Sunday's test series winning match versus New Zealand and now winning the RLIF Golden Boot.

His Golden Boot award - recognising him as the World International Player of the Year - is the culmination of a stellar 2018 that has seen him burst onto the international stage with three eye-catching performances for England.

He scored on his debut against New Zealand in Denver in June, put on a dynamic defensive display in the first Test against the Kiwis two weeks ago and followed that up with a hat-trick of tries against the same opposition last week.

His performances, according to England coach Wayne Bennett, have put him "in a league of his own".

Franny Fairhurst (Tommy's Coach through his Hindley days) Reflected - "Tommy started playing at Hindley aged about 7 (coached by Paul Thompson and myself) and played at Hindley until he was 15 when he left to go to Jude's. Tommy played almost exclusively at full back for Hindley and occasionally centre. He was always extremely fast and a ferocious tackler, he always had a fantastic attitude to training, always being very respectful to his coaches, teammates and everyone associated with the club, he also put in lots of individual extra training sessions often to be seen on Cardy Fields with his dad, showing true dedication to listen to advice to continually strive to improve. He is a credit to our club and the whole game."
