Amateur Ladies receive cash boost

HACC has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes North Midlands as part of the housebuilder's successful Community Champions scheme.

Persimmon donates up to £64,000 a month to fund local community initiatives across the UK.

HACC recently started its first ever ladies’ team and is raising money through shirt sponsorships, raffles and sponsored walks.

Despite a challenging 18 months, the club is looking to continue hosting events this summer to inspire more women and girls to participate in the sport.

Liane Brookin, ladies’ captain, said: “We’re over the moon to receive this generous donation from Persimmon Homes. It’s not been the easiest start for us but with this additional £1,000 we’ll be able to purchase a dedicated Super 8’s playing shirt and update the facilities at our ground. It couldn’t have come at a better time as our season has just started and I’m sure the news will give everyone at the club, especially the girls, a massive boost! Hopefully these improvements will also encourage more women to come down and join us.”

Nadine O'Dowd, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting Hinckley Amateur Cricket Club after such a difficult year. Grassroots sport is so important to our local communities so when we heard about the new ladies’ team and their plans for the future, it was obvious that they would be worthy winners.”
