Hatfield Rugby Club

Hatfield Rugby club was created by members from another Club? and was formed in? And ran two sides every week from the Deavlin Centre in Hatfield before moving to Roe Hill in. Hatfield & QE11 were great rivals and had good local derby games over the years.

In 2001 Hatfield had many players retire and struggled to put out a side on a weekly bases, Adam Bowe, a QE11 player approached Hatfield Rugby Club and discussed amalgamating both clubs. Terms were agreed by Chris Henshaw, Hatfield Chairman and Robin Nicholson, Hatfield President and Hatfield QE11 formed in 2001.

In 2003 the club changed its name to Hatfield Exiles for one year and reverted back to the original name in 2004. The Club had two council pitches at Roe Hill until one pitch was taken away by the council in 2006. The 2nd pitch may be returned to Hatfield QE11 Rugby Club start of next season. The Club House moved from Roe Hill Council bar to The Mai Tai bar at the Hatfield Town inn in 2007. The bar is ours between 4pm to 7pm every Saturday and food is provided after home games, Children are permitted until 7pm. Sponsors and donations to the Club are welcome and our aim is to build our own Club house in the near future.
