Crigglestone Sports Club is situated within the Sports Grounds at Hall Green United and is located on Painthorpe Lane in Crigglestone, Wakefield.

HISTORY OF CRIGGLESTONE SPORTS CLUB

On the 7th June 1981 at the Annual General Meeting, held at the old Painthorpe House Country Club, it was passed that both Crigglestone Cricket Club and Hall Green United Football Club should merge to form Crigglestone Sports Club. The club needed a Club Registration Certificate to be able to sell intoxicating drink. The first application to the Magistrates Court was Friday 12th December 1980. The application was adjourned for a site visit by the magistrates following objections from the local Police. This visit took place on 8th January 1981. The application was then refused on the grounds of inadequate toilets and building security. On Friday 21st January 1983 a fresh application for a Club Registration Certificate was made to the Magistrates Court. The application was successful and the certificate was granted for ONE year. The first pint of HB CLARKS traditional beer was pulled on Tuesday 1st March 1983 at a cost of 50p per pint. Lager was 56p per pint, Crisps were 11p and nuts were 12p.
