A look at the likely make-up of North Lancs One next season.

With the season drawing to a close, and Garstang guaranteed to be playing the 2014-15 season in North Lancs One, it’s time to look at the probable make-up of the league for next season.
Firstly, let’s look who will be leaving the league. At the top De La Salle have won the league and they are promoted and Heaton Moor are secure in second place so they will play off against the runners-up of Cumbria, probably Silloth, for that final place in the North Lancs/Cumbria league.
At the bottom it is two from three of Hutton, St Edward’s OB and Mossley Hill facing the trapdoor. Hutton looked nailed on to go down but they will be devastated that a ten point deduction has left them cast adrift. The other place is between the two Liverpool based teams and, although Mossley Hill are currently out of the bottom two, they are just one point ahead of St Edward’s who have two games in hand.
Now let’s look who will be joining the league. Yesterday North Manchester practically sealed the league title and secured promotion as they beat Birchfield in North Lancs Two. Consolation for Birchfield is that they are almost sure to be promoted as runners-up.
The complicated bit of all this is who will be coming down from North Lancs/Cumbria into NL1. After yesterday’s results it looks like Littleborough and Fleetwood will be in the division but there are so many variables with the Heaton Moor v Silloth play-off and next week’s games.
This is the probable line-up in NL1 next season based upon current standings:
Ashton-Under-Lyne
Birchfield
Burnley
Didsbury Toc-H
Fleetwood
Garstang
Littleborough
Mossley Hill
North Manchester
Oldham
Thornton Cleveleys
Trafford MV
I don’t think this will be the final line-up as, looking at the final games, I would say that St Edward’s will overhaul Mossley Hill but other than that it looks like a fair assessment of next seasons league.
