Quick Hockey Leadership Award

Irish Hockey have 2 options for TY hockey programmes. Click on the links below for more information.

The TY Hockey Programme is a coaching and umpiring course, with leadership skills as the underlying theme. This programme is great for schools who already play hockey.

Transition Year Programme 2014/15

We are now taking bookings for our TY programme for the upcoming hockey season! The TY programme is 1.5 days long and is delivered by an IHA tutor and is open to all schools and aims to provide students with overall leadership experience through the medium of sport.

Whilst the programme is based on hockey, it also covers broader areas such as presentational skills, self-reflection, organisational skills, confidence and providing support and feedback to others. The TY Programme focuses on two main areas of hockey, coaching and umpiring, with leadership skills as the underlying theme. As well benefitting from contact time with an IHA tutor, the students are also expected to gain real-life practical experience in order to complete the programme and to gain an IHA TY Hockey Programme Certificate.
