Biography

Neil enjoyed a good playing career with Prestatyn Town, making over 100 appearances. He then went on to manage the club, and enjoyed tremendous success during two spells in charge of the Seasiders. He initially took over the Bastion Gardens club in season 2007/08, succeeding Dave Fuller, whom he had previously assisted. During that season, he guided Prestatyn to promotion to the Welsh Premier League. In 2012/13, they won the Welsh Cup under Gibson, and so qualified for European competition, where they beat a Latvian side to reach the second qualifying round of the Europa League, before bowing out to Rijeka of Croatia.
After a spell at Connah's Quay Nomads where he was assistant to Andy Morrison, Gibson returned to manage Prestatyn, who were by then a tier 2 side once again, and he successfully led them to the Cymru North title in the curtailed 2019/20 season. However, a failure to be awarded the domestic licence meant that the club were denied promotion, and Flint, as runners up, took their place. Gibson subsequently resigned from his role, and was a free agent when approached by Flint in December 2020 to take over the managerial reins from Niall McGuinness.
