Five Ways Old Edwardians Cricket Club welcomes you to the club. We hope that you will enjoy being a club member and will enjoy the cricket coaching, training, and matches, as well as the social interactions available at the club. The aim of this page is to provide information that may be helpful to you as new members or guests with regards to your welfare. Please do ask the Club Welfare Officer, or any committee member or coach, if you have other questions not answered in these pages.

The club is run by a number of volunteers. Our only paid member of staff is Sue Hope our Club Stewardess. We welcome offers of help from all members, and hope that if you join as a member as you feel part of the club you will feel able and want to get involved.

We are a Clubmark club and we adhere to the ‘Safe Hands’ Policy for Safeguarding Children in Cricket. All of the adults at the club who work with children or vulnerable adults and meet the necessary criteria are vetted by the ECB. This includes the enhanced DBS and ‘Barred List’ check (formerly known as CRB checks).

Whilst we hope you, or your child, will be happy and content at the club, we understand that sometimes questions, concerns or difficulties may arise. Please feel able to raise these as soon as possible, so we can rectify things at the earliest opportunity. If you have a question regarding coaching, please approach the coach in the first instance. However, please do not interrupt coaching sessions, especially nets practice, as this may distract the coach when he or she needs to be supervising the participants. Our coaches will be happy to speak to you before or after training or at another convenient time. If you have questions about kit requirements, training times, pick up arrangements etc please speak to any one of the above contacts.

If you have any concern about your child or another child, or about the behaviour of any adult at the club, please speak to the Club Chairman – Dave Potter - on tel: 07779 157263; email: daveapotter@gmail.com (or if your concern is about the CWO, you may contact the Worcestershire County Welfare Officer Andy Wheeler on tel: 07791 047073 or email: andy.wheeler.cbwo@hotmail.co.uk).

‘Safe hands’, ECB’s Policy for Safeguarding Children in cricket, is available to view at www.ecb.co.uk/safehands, or a copy is available on request at the club.

Senior training is at 6:30pm on Tuesdays, Senior Womens training is 6:30pm on Thursdays and Junior training times are 6.30pm on Friday evenings. Match days are available from the club website, further matches will be updated at a later date. Please note the club cannot accept responsibility for getting you, or your child, to away matches, although help will be provided where possible. Parents must ensure they contact a member of the junior committee if they are going to be late collecting their child from any session.

The Club is always looking for help – please do consider helping out if you can, please inform of your interest to any administrators, coaches or committee members. Roles of use are Team Managers, Assistant Administrators or Welfare Assistant; coaches are always welcome whether qualified or seeking qualification.

Finally, all members are reminded of the club’s code of conduct for members and guests, found in the following page and posted on the club notice board.

We do hope that you and your child(ren) enjoy being a member or guest of the Five Ways Old Edwardians Cricket Club, and if you have any concerns, do please let us know.
