FC Stratford travelled to then league leaders, Cheltenham Saracens, yesterday and Janes felt his side put in a positive performance.

Janes made changed to his starting eleven with Ben Johns and Ashley Wilkes coming into the right back and left back positions whilst Nick Cox returned in midfield. Elsewhere, Jagjit Aujla came back into the side in the front three.

Aujla gave Janes' side the lead early in the first half whilst playing into a strong wind on a fairly open pitch. Saracens' responded before the interval with a goal from a set piece, an impressive delivery and a very good header past Eddie Cox in the Stratford goal.

Stratford looked to regain the lead in the second half, playing with the wind behind them, Janes side without doubt had the better of the chances to win the game but unfortunately the second goal just didn't arrive.

"We spoke about focusing on a performance that reflected the quality we have and the way in which we like to play, and the players certainly delivered that." said Janes.

"It has been a difficult few weeks for us in terms of results but performances especially, the response shown today from the players and their application were outstanding.

"First half was difficult with the conditions and we had to defend very well, we showed great resilience and dealt with a lot of balls into the box. We scored a very good goal which gave us a real boost.

"They got their equaliser which was probably deserved, the delivery was excellent and their player attacked the ball superbly. We wanted to come in at half time 1-0 up or level and we did that.

"Second half was all about us, I felt we pushed them back and dominated the game. We got behind them numerous times which led to the sending off. We created several fantastic opportunities; we should have won the game as we were the better team and created the chances.

"The fact we are coming away disappointed with the result away to the then league leaders demonstrates the quality we possess. Cheltenham are a good side who will be up there at the end of the season.

"The most pleasing aspect was our performance, if we maintain that level of quality then we will also be in the mix. I wanted more leaders and players who continuously shared our tactical messages, I saw that in abundance today.

"There were some huge individual performances, Dully, Levi and Nick Cox I thought were all outstanding.

"We had 85% of players at an 8/10 today, which is why we have delivered that level of performance. We now must deliver again next week as we look to build on this performance, the results will take care of themselves if the players show that level of focus and application."
