About Us

Easts Hockey Club has a proud tradition of representing the Eastern Suburbs and playing in the Sydney Hockey League for over 30 years.

We are a growing and social hockey club, competitive on all fronts, and have enjoyed tremendous success across the club over the past few seasons.

We have a significant ex-pat membership from the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Canada and New Zealand who combine with local Australian talent to form a mix unique in Sydney.

In joining Easts you will find a friendly atmosphere in a real club environment. We pride ourselves on being competitive but also a social and welcoming club. There are numerous social events throughout the year, as well as regular drinks after games and social events for both players and friends & family.

Men’s Team

You will also find a competitive club. East’s 1st, 3rd and 4th teams finished as Minor Premiers in 2012, with the 3rd and 4th teams achieving promotion. This was backed up in 2013 with both the 1st and 3rds reaching the Grand Final and the 3rds again achieving promotion. In 2014 the 1sts did the double and backed up Minor Premiers with the BIG ONE, a Grand Final win – Major Premiers! Success again filtered down the club with the 2nds winning the Minor Premiers and making the finals series along with the 3rds.

In 2015, 4 out of our 5 teams made the end of season finals series, with just the 2nd team narrowly missing out by finishing one spot outside qualification. A series of solid finals performances followed, with the 5th team narrowly losing the Grand Final in the closing minutes.

Our teams will be playing in the following leagues for the 2017 season:

1s: PL3 (very strong standard)
2s: PL4 (solid standard)
3s: SL2 (a good mix of solid hockey but a bit more ‘social’)
4s: SL6 (definitely more social – a perfect place for beginners and old hands alike)

Game times: Saturday with a start between 12.30 and 6.30pm

Women's Team

The Women's Team is part of the Sydney East Hockey Association (SEHA). We currently have four teams and over 70 players total. We have a team in each grade within the league, and encourage players to join from absolute beginners to high-level players and everything in between.

Training is Monday nights in Kyeemagh, and we can always find someone to help you get there if you don't have a car!

Games are usually at Kyeemagh or Daceyville (occasionally Moorebank or Sutherland). 1st Grade plays on Saturdays, 2's, 3's and 4's play on Sundays.

1st Grade - our highest level. Requires a very strong commitment both to the club and personal fitness.
2nd Grade - generally trains with first grade. High playing level, very competitive. Our 2018 team won the minor premiership.
3rd Grade - as with the men's club, it's a solid standard of hockey and a competitive atmosphere but with a bit more of a social side. Our 3's are our resident baking champions.
4th Grade - Very social and friendly -fantastic for beginners or those returning to hockey after a bit of a hiatus. 4's have made finals the last several years.

Each year the women's club put on a range of social events, and hold fundraisers to keep fees low.
