The Senior side began their pre-season games with a convincing win against Mansfield at Gosforth Fields on Saturday.
With new head coach Darren Hall selecting a strong team with a mix of old and new players, it was good to see the hard work in training starting to pay dividends on the pitch. Some great rugby was played and, although there was bits to work on in the coming weeks, signs are good for the forthcoming season.
2 Tries from scrum half Luke Cocking and 1 a piece for Andy Chambers, Tim Young, Chris Seal and Alistair Hills sealed the win with Andy Chambers try the pick of the bunch after a superb 70m break by Tim Young.
The set piece had an excellent opening game. DRUFC won 8 scrums with 3 against the head and lost 0. The line-out was equally impressive with 11 won, 4 turned over and only 2 lost.
