BIG HIT as Drig holds FREE summer sports camp!!

During this summer, Drighlington ARLFC held a summer sports camp, a first for the area! with the help of a generous fund awarded by Leeds City Council as part of their Big Spender scheme. The club facilitated over 90 children over the duration of the camp, ageing from 5 to 13, with the camp lasting 3 weeks. The children attended the camp on a designated week for their specific age group:
The 5 to 7 group participated from the 11th August to the 15th August
The 8 to 10 age group - 18th August to 22nd August
And the 11 to 13 age group was from 25th to 29th August
The camp ran from 9:00am to 3:00pm everyday and gave the children the opportunity to participate in rugby, football and cricket training as well as team building and fitness exercises!
Training was conducted by fully qualified coaches for all 3 sports with the help of assistant coaches, welfare officers, dinner ladies and first aiders!
As we live in England, at times we were let down by the rain and couldn't conduct outdoor training ... but fear not! as we played Bingo which was the biggest hit of the camp for the two youngest age groups!
Every child that participated, took a way souvenirs of their time on camp in the form of a t - shirt and a certificate!
A big thanks to all who helped:
